Machiavelli's Prince of Business

Professor Maurizio Viroli, one of the world’s foremost experts on Machiavelli, will reveal the hidden business wisdom within the famous philosopher's sometimes controversial advice. Machiavelli's believed that wisdom is the ability to understand times and circumstances while adapting our strategy to fluctuating conditions, valuable for today's leaders as it was in 1506. Viroli will explain why Machiavelli's teachings are still relevant to today's business leaders— perhaps now more than ever— and dispel the myth that he believed in bullying.

Professor Viroli will discuss Machiavelli ’s view that successful leadership requires avoiding indecisiveness and being ready to seize good opportunities when they arise. Much of his discussion will be based on his most recent books How to Choose a Leader and Quotable Machiavelli.
